Your introduction to Reformer Pilates.

Let’s take the guesswork out of starting Reformer Pilates.

These short videos are here to help us decode the basics together; from how the reformer works, how to move safely and what to expect in your first class.

It’s worth noting that you’ll be shown everything you need to know when you arrive, but hopefully this helps ease any pre-class butterflies so you can feel relaxed, confident and ready to begin.

Your joining options.

Choosing the right class.

Understanding the reformer.

Arriving with confidence.

  • Reformer Pilates is a low-impact form of strength training using a spring based machine to improve strength, mobility, balance and control.

  • No experience is needed. Our classes are designed for all levels, and you’ll be guided through every session.

The only prerequisite to our classes is that you can easily lay flat on the floor and sit up without assistance.

  • Wear something comfortable, ideally leggings or shorts. Nothing too loose. You’ll also need grip socks, if you don’t have any or forget yours we have some available on reception.

Bring a drink of water and aim to arrive 5-10 minutes before the class begins.

  • As you drive into the business park, you’ll follow the road to the right. You’ll see a large area to your right next to the old barn. You’ll walk 30s around the corner to the studio.

We are next door to Bywell Coffee Barn.

  • You’ll be welcomed into the studio, shown where to put your belongings.

We’ll take you into the studio, give you a tour of the reformer and make sure you’re happy before the class begins.

Step by step instructions will be given throughout the class.

Nothing is expected of you in advance- most of our members had never seen a reformer before beginning with us!

You’ll leave feeling accomplished, connected to your body and more confident for your next reformer session.

  • For your first class, we highly recommend you begin with form fundamentals. It will still provide you with a challenging, engaging class without the added layers of complexity an on form or reformer x strength class brings.

Learn to do the basics well, and build strong foundations before advancing.

  • Aim to arrive no more than 10 minutes before the start of class. Any sooner than that and we may still be finishing the previous session. There will be ample time for you to get set up before we begin.

  • We will always make modifications where necessary to enable you to continue to move safely throughout your pregnancy.

We ask that you book a form fundamentals class first so we have a clear understanding on your movement, as everyone is different.

It is imperative that we have clear communication from you before booking your first class with us.

  • Yes, our timetable includes a beginner friendly class called form fundamentals. It’s a great chance for you to get acquainted with how the reformer moves and feels and become competent with the foundational movements of pilates before trying our more advanced class types.

  • All of our classes are as intense and challenging as you choose for them to be.

As coaches, we’re here to guide, support and encourage you to work hard and progress at your pace.

You’ll never be left behind, and will always be supported to take breaks when needed so you can continue to move well.
